DHANTERAS & DHANVANTRI JAYANTI – CELEBRATION OF HEALTH, WEALTH, AND PROSPERITY

Dhanteras, also known as Dhantrayodashi, marks the auspicious beginning of the five-day Diwali festival. Celebrated on the thirteenth day of the Krishna Paksha in the month of Kartik, this day holds deep spiritual and cultural significance in Indian tradition. It is believed that on this day, Goddess Lakshmi — the divine symbol of wealth and prosperity — emerged during the churning of the ocean (Samudra Manthan), along with Lord Dhanvantri, the divine physician and an incarnation of Lord Vishnu.

Dhanteras is considered the most favorable day to purchase gold, silver, utensils, or any new valuable items as a sign of welcoming prosperity and good fortune. Homes and workplaces are cleaned and decorated with lights, rangolis, and diyas to invite Goddess Lakshmi’s blessings. Devotees also light lamps in the evening and offer prayers for the health, happiness, and success of their families.

Dhanvantri Jayanti, celebrated on the same day, honors Lord Dhanvantri — the God of Ayurveda and the celestial healer. According to ancient scriptures, He appeared from the ocean carrying the pot of Amrit (nectar of immortality), symbolizing the gift of health and longevity to humanity. On this day, Ayurvedic practitioners and devotees perform special prayers seeking His divine blessings for good health, healing power, and spiritual wellness.

Together, Dhanteras and Dhanvantri Jayanti remind us that true wealth lies not only in material abundance but also in good health and inner well-being. As we celebrate these sacred occasions, let us embrace the spirit of gratitude, purity, and prosperity — ensuring that our homes and hearts are filled with light, love, and vitality.

Warm Wishes from Himalyan Educational & Training Society (HEATS)

May Lord Dhanvantri bless everyone with good health and may Goddess Lakshmi shower endless prosperity, happiness, and peace in your lives.

Happy Dhanteras & Dhanvantri Jayanti….
