CELEBRATING THE JAYANTI OF MAHATMA GANDHI & LAL BAHADUR SHASTRI- LEGENDS OF INDIA
2nd October is a remarkable day in Indian history as it marks the birth anniversaries of two great sons of the nation—Rashtr Pita Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri. Both leaders, though from different generations, dedicated their lives to the service of India and left behind ideals that continue to guide us.
Mahatma Gandhi, also known as the Father of the Nation, led India’s struggle for freedom with the weapons of truth and non-violence. His philosophy of Satyagraha became a worldwide example of peaceful protest. Gandhi ji’s vision of a just, inclusive, and self-reliant India still holds relevance today. His life teaches us simplicity, honesty, and the power of collective strength.
On the same date in 1904, Lal Bahadur Shastri was born in Mughalsarai. Rising from humble beginnings, he became India’s second Prime Minister and earned the love of the people through his integrity and simplicity. His famous slogan, “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan,” reflected his deep respect for farmers and soldiers, the twin pillars of India’s strength. During the Indo-Pak war of 1965, Shastri ji’s leadership showcased his courage, while his emphasis on food security encouraged self-reliance.
Together, Gandhi ji and Shastri ji symbolize truth, simplicity, sacrifice, and patriotism. Their lives remind us that service to the nation is the highest duty. On their Jayanti, we bow our heads in respect and pledge to follow their noble ideals to build a stronger and more peaceful India.
